Favorite

This is my favorite photo because it's simple, uses rule of thirds, and has a nice tone/color to it. It makes Ben look very heroic, because of the angle I shot it at, and it is a sharp picture.  I tried to remove the piece of hair underneath his ear on the right, but I then decided that I don't want to manipulate my photos to the point of removing things that are in them, so I left it.  It is a little distracting to me, but I still really like the photo.

Favorite 5

I chose these photos as my 5 favorite because I think they represent my photography.  I like to use rule of thirds, soft focus, and try things that sometimes look strange.

Photo Journalism Assignment

This is a picture of the Sharon vs. Bethel Girls varsity game that took place in Randolph.  This picture uses rule of thirds and contributive background, and I think it's a fairly good action shot.  If I could re-shoot this photo, I would raise the frame a bit so there was less field visible and more of the trees in the background.  I also wish I had a better lens because shooting sports with my short zoom lens is difficult since I can't be in the midst of the action.

Portrait 2011

This is a portrait of my friend Lindsey. I like how her head fills the frame and it represents her personality. But the background bothers me.

I like this picture because it shows that these boots can be worn indoors and outdoors, and the tiles match the tub and boots.

Landscape - Just a Pretty Picture?

Is this just a pretty picture? It could be considered more than a pretty picture because it really resembles fall, and uses rule of thirds and I like the spider.

Photo Journalism Assignment

I think this photo best fulfills the assignment because it was a captured scene.  Nothing was set up by me, and almost nothing was changed by me.  I'm not sure if it counts as photo journalism still if the people in the photo are noticing me as the photographer and looking at me, but I sort of like how some people are completely unaware and a few people are looking at me.  In this photo I also like how there is light coming from the back of the room, and the front of the room but the middle is slightly darker.

Portrait Assignment

I chose this picture because I think it's my strongest for this assignment.  It doesn't have a person in it, but I would say it has a personality in it.  I like this picture because it displays someone who uses their cell phone a lot, and might be known as someone who "can't live without it".  This photo also has a simply, solid background which I am happy about because then the viewer really knows what to look at, and they really know what the photo is about.  If I could retake this photo, I would move the camera up so that there is a relatively equal amount of space above the cell phones, and below the cell phones because right now it feels a little top heavy to me.

I think this could potentially sell the product, which is "Skyy Vodka".  It was pretty difficult to get this picture because of the mirror, and the flash, but I like how it ended up turning out.  If I could re-do this picture, I would change the angle and put the camera facing the bottle, so that the glare wouldn't be as extreme on the mirror, and maybe do a nice effect on the glass of the bottle.  And i like how the glass giraffes match the bottle and emphasize the name of the vodka, which is "Skyy".

Landscape Assignment

This is my landscpe picture.  I took it from the car, which is why the snow covered railing is blury from motion.  I like how the glare from the sun is visible on the left side, and that is also where the hill lowers.  It wasn't particularly difficult to get this picture, because I just took it from the car, but I like taking pictures from moving cars and busses.  I only got one shot of this because I was moving so fast, and I think if I could have taken multiple shots, I would have lowered the camera to get less sky, because the photo feels like it has a little too much of the sky in it to me.  But I like the fact that you can tell the camera was in motion.

A Space at School

In this photo I was trying to display a space at my school that I know and like.  It is a little nook outside between two parts of the building.  I took it by crouching against the wall and aiming the camera up to show the icicle and the angles of the building.  I think I succeeded with this picture because it shows the space and it looks cool because it has a sort of spiral with the lines of roof and the line on the wall.
